Advertising online is a major part of any advertising campaign nowadays. Since the internet is a major source of information and entertainment, it makes sense to advertise on the internet. Three popular types of online advertising are banner ads, pop up ads and pay per click ads.


Banner ads are a popular form of online advertising. By paying a fixed regular amount, one can place one’s ads in the form of banners on websites. Banner ads differ from pay per click ads in the sense that whereas one has to pay only when people click on the ads in a pay per click campaign, one has to pay a fixed amount of money to a website owner for placing one’s ad over there irrespective of how many people click on the ad in a banner advertising campaign. The price of the banners depends upon the site where one is advertising, the size of the banner and the location of the banner, that is, at the top, at the bottom, or in the left hand or right hand column.


Pop up ads are losing popularity as they are most often associated with malware and most browsers nowadays have integrated pop up blockers and people download and instal pop up blocking software. Therefore, pop up advertising is not as good an idea as banner advertising or pay per click advertising.


Pay per click ads ensure that one only pays for those viewers who are interested enough in the advertisement to have clicked on it and therefore it is gaining popularity nowadays.
